Denmark asks the European Union to ban fuel cars

At the European Commission, Denmark proposed to reduce fuel car sales by 2030, and ban them altogether from 2040. The request is supported by several countries

Green future with no fuel

Denmark, under the voice of its Minister for Climate and Energy Dan Jorgensen, enters a straight leg against the car market, asking for a total ban for all fuel-powered cars since 2040 . The ban proposed to the European Commission would be anticipated by a progressive decline in sales starting from 2030. Hybrids would also be involved in the ban, but from 2035.

According to the Danish Government, the procedure would be essential to achieve the goal that the Union has set itself, namely the reduction of CO2 emissions by 40% by 2030, and the achievement of zero emissions by 2050.

According to Reuters, the Danish proposal would be supported by ten other Member States , although at the moment it has not been communicated what they are. The “plan A”, as Jorgensen defines it, is to have an action supported by the European Commission, but should the agreement be lacking , Denmark could think of an alliance with these other 10 countries on the same wavelength.
